HSBC is a very supportive employer and allows you to have a good family life

Working in IT means we sometimes have to provide support at weekends or holidays, especially as projects are launched. Also a lot of system maintenance is carried out on Sundays but HSBC is a very supportive employer and allows you to have a good family life. I have a five-month old baby and I am able to work from home two or three days a week and join many meetings remotely.

I am part of the software delivery team in Hong Kong and although most of our work is here we also contribute to projects overseas which has broadened my horizons and helped me to better understand the bank. As IT manager for some projects, I have to work with teams from all different backgrounds.  Sometimes there are challenges to overcome but that brings great satisfaction.

I have also had the chance to make a difference to our community. In 2011 I spent seven days in the China Regional Climate Centre in Hangzhou where I learnt a lot about sustainability and, of course, climate change. I found it really inspiring and it has changed the way I think about many things.

I have made a lot of friends at work, especially through the HSBC dragon boat team – a sport where we represent the bank in competitions.

The bank is the best place to work – staff are encouraged to speak up, our workplace promotes flexibility and our technology fosters mobility. I see my future here.
