When expert says to you “no,” you of course have to scratch your head.
We have to adjust until we find an acceptable compromise.
Convincing people isn’t about getting them to think an idea is great.
It’s getting to the core of what people know.
We went through so many ideas.
Even bad ideas have sometimes to be explored.
It takes a global network to harness the moon's possibilities.
We've been building partnerships with companies in France, also Singapore, because we can't do things alone.
We need to inspire the public and educate them about the benefits and challenges of space exploration.
We're a piece of the puzzle, building the lunar economy.

So, initially when we built the boat, it was just a bunch of aluminium sticks, a fishing net and a waterproof box with electronics in it.
When we were showing it to people as a proof of concept, they even said, “This looks like something I can build in my garage.”
When we started off, we were all very moved by the pollution problem.
We all very passionately wanted to do something about it and that’s kind of how it started.
And eventually as we were building the tech to make this more efficient, we realised that the same technology could be adapted to different use cases.
For example, adapted to do surveying and we could do goods delivery.
Essentially, we’re trying to build a tool that can be used for different things at the same time.

We were bootstrapped for a really long time.
So, what we did was we used to go into competitions to pitch the idea.

It helped us convince people of the business side of things for a solution like this.
It really did help us build our network as well.
Today when we are trying to raise [funding], it’s something that we go back to and eventually we were able to work with some big names in the industry, for example, Microsoft. We worked with Razer and that really helped us have some level of credibility.
Right now we have a couple of boats in Hong Kong, in India, Thailand as well. And we are looking at the Middle East.
When we are trying to scale up, it’s really about doing it right, and when you’re going to a different region, you need to have the right partner to make sure that the experience of using something new is good.
We just want to build something that becomes the norm.
Whether that is a success or a failure, at least you know what your idea amounted to.

When we thought of redevelopment of Msheireb Downtown Doha, there was worries about how the new city will take away part of history.
Our role was to preserve it.
So, it’s a very important aspect to have built a city beneath the city, where every operational aspect is happening underneath.

It was a very bold decision.
Two-thirds of the cost to keep the identity, to keep the grain of the old city.
Where we are here is just the brain of the entire city.
Everything is monitored in real time, so putting all the infrastructure there, water management, loading and unloading for the goods.

Now we are monitoring it and analysing the data, and seeing how we can react to it.

[Abdulla]
Today it’s trending everywhere, but we were one of the pioneers in this region when the vision was to start building.
So, it’s very important to spread the knowledge of Msheireb Downtown Doha as a prototype of modern cities.

I trained in Beirut as an architect.
For the first few years we weren’t really allowed to use any digital tools.
It was more everything sketched by hand.
I’m always striving to learn new tools that can help me express my design ideas.
I saw the opportunities were amplified with artificial intelligence.
I use AI with my own data sets, so I know that whatever is coming out from these tools is reflecting my own ideas and concepts and style.
To get that model up and running took months.
I ran into so many errors because I’m not a programmer.
You just have to stick to the original plan and keep going.
I was very impressed by the amount of creativity I was seeing.
At the same time, it was opening up new conversations with architects, designers like, “Can we really build this space?”
I started off with an experiment on one of my interior walls, creating depth and understanding how to take it out as a 3D mesh.
Another application is AI plug-ins where you can create elevations from an image straight away.
Creativity is actually being amplified, because we’re using these tools to help us reduce time for production, exchanging ideas and concepts from smart cities to how this corporate world is going to develop around AI, how the architectural jobs are going to be in the future.
I’m not sure yet about titles, but definitely programming, machine learning, AI prompts - will be very creative.
AI technology is evolving every day.
Always stay curious, unlocking the new possibilities.

It's the wear and tear on people with bricks and mortar and cement.
I don't have to worry about any risks, such as working at height, manual labour, chemicals, wastage.
It's just so much safer.
[Mike]
The way to convince investors is to show clear progress.
Seeing that first brick come down, that was a satisfying moment like no other.
It's a challenging step to establish in another country.
You've got the business challenges of a whole different business community and potentially a different business mindset.
It is never a straight line.
But I find that really interesting because there's a really good opportunity to learn there.
This is a journey that has over 100 people in the team, 13,000 shareholders, and a business and an investment community and an industry watching what we're doing.
Don't be a solution looking for a problem.
Tackle a problem and find the solution.

The real promise of quantum computing is that potentially it's computing all over again.
Around 2016, it was really clear to me that the pendulum of progress was swinging away from academia and towards industry.
It was the right time to make the leap.
At Horizon, what we are trying to do is to become the software layer that bridges between classical code to code that runs well on quantum computers, and build the tools that will enable users to really transform their industries,

whether that be finance, for example, pricing things like options and derivatives, in the energy sector, in pharma or in aerospace.
A large challenge has been that we don't have complete control over the technology stack all the way down.
What we quickly discovered was that a lot of the code lower in the chain was changing all the time.
Well, I think you don't start a startup if you want to sleep at night.

So a big milestone for us, a big change: we're the first software company in the world to own and operate our own quantum computers.
And we'll have the first system up and running in early 2025.
Coming from a world that is quite far separated from venture capital, building up the network, building up the skills was an important part of that journey.
I want to get to a world where quantum computing is really the way we're solving all of the hard problems.

because the bank is internationally known and greatly facilitates transfers between abroad and Mexico as well.
It’s a bank that gives them [our distributors] confidence and us too.
When I see our gloves in the gyms, on the kids who start with a lot of dedication and enthusiasm, in the movies, in big fights, I feel a great pride for the family business.
I feel a huge commitment to continue with the legacy and keep achieving success.
The glove used in the championship fight and the glove used by the boy to spar in the gym is exactly the same, has the same quality, performs the same, offers the same protection.
Cleto Reyes has a presence all over the world.
It has been very important to have HSBC to receive payments from abroad because we receive dollars in an account and from there, we can also make transfers in dollars or we can exchange to the national currency.
And with the national currency, we can pay all our commitments.
I manage accounts in dollars, in pesos, and having HSBC products has made my life much easier.
Everything is always visible in one place.
So that allows me to focus on what’s important.
Our relationship with HSBC dates back to 1979 when my parents opened the company’s first account with HSBC.
For my parents it was very important to have the support and guidance of HSBC executives at that time because my parents were starting a business, so there were things they didn't know how to handle.
Today, one of them is still a friend of the family.
We have been doing business with HSBC for almost 50 years.
And today it continues to be a financial pillar for us.
