Head of the Strategic Energy Solutions Group, Americas
New York, USA
My educational background is in law (University College London) with a diploma in commercial law (BPP Law School). I joined the bank in 2010 as one of the founding members of the global oil and gas structured finance team.
Our small team represented HSBC’s first experience of oil and gas lending on a non-corporate basis – in other words, we were mandated to lend to companies on the basis of the strength of their assets “in the ground” rather than taking a broader view of corporate cashflows.
Before joining HSBC, I worked as an attorney specialising in oil and gas banking and corporate law and advising a wide range of international companies and financial institutions.
HSBC values loyalty, patience, integrity and long-term relationships
Now based in New York, I am responsible for HSBC’s Strategic Energy Solutions business across the Americas. The business focuses on advising energy companies in the US, Canada, Central and Latin America on how to raise capital for their domestic and outbound energy investments and also works with HSBC’s non-Americas clients who are investing in the region.
My team sits within the Global Banking part of HSBC as part of the wider Resources and Energy franchise. We have teams in London, New York and Singapore.
I would advise prospective employees that HSBC values loyalty, patience, integrity and long-term relationships. Our most senior staff have grown up in the organisation and our rich global history makes us a centre for employees with an international outlook.
