We employ, develop and promote employees based on merit and provide a supportive and inclusive working environment. We want HSBC to be a place where everyone can be themselves and achieve their potential.

We have access to many of the world’s major trade and capital flows and a leading position in many high-growth markets. Within these markets we serve our customers through four global businesses: Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, Global Private Banking and Retail Banking and Wealth Management. These businesses are supported by a range of operational and functional teams.

School or college students

If you are still at school or college we offer work-experience programmes in some countries. If you are about to, or have just left school or college, we have a range of local opportunities including apprenticeships and entry-level positions, which can be viewed on our programmes page or country/location careers sites.

University students and graduates

For students who are at university or who have graduated, there are a number of options. You could join one of our local internships or country-specific programmes or apply for entry-level roles such as a customer service adviser or business analyst.

Our approach

Wherever you join us we will provide the support, tools and opportunities for you to develop and thrive. We aim to be dependable, open and connected in everything we do. We encourage our employees to stand up for what is right, highlight potential risks and act with integrity at all times. To make sure everybody at HSBC lives up to these values, they form part of our annual performance review.

Our approach to working together is to connect with difference, embracing a variety of ideas and perspectives. We think it is important to have a diverse workforce and leadership team. This helps us respond to the needs of our customers and develop better products and services.

We assess and manage the social and environmental impact of our decisions, including the efficiency of our operations, our buildings and IT systems and the way we travel. We invest significantly in community projects such as education programmes and partnerships. Employees are encouraged to volunteer for these and other activities.
