Head of Global Banking Sales, Global Liquidity and Cash Management
I studied electronic engineering and joined the bank as a product manager in Global Liquidity and Cash Management. I had feared banking may be boring - I was wrong.
After three years I took an international secondment as a regional sales manager in Hong Kong. It was tough at first but with some intensive training and help from some great mentors I came to beat my target every year.
I have recently been appointed as Head of GLCM for HSBC in China which is both exciting and challenging in equal measures. I lead the implementation of GLCM's Growth Strategy on the strong foundation built in China, dialogue with regulators in relation to Cash Management and drive the renminbi (RMB) internationalisation agenda in the bank.
HSBC demands the highest standard of integrity, professionalism and curiosity. A willing learner and team player would succeed
We all work hard, midnight or early morning conference calls are routine and many times, when I travel, it can be eight cities in seven days. The toughest times are when we have a Request for Proposal - when we compete against other companies to win business. It is great how the whole bank, from the global business head to an operational clerk can work together to fine-tune the proposal, rehearse it, make last minute revisions. We make sure all the different areas of the business come together to present a unified and cohesive pitch - team work is critical to our success.
Outside of work I spend a lot of time playing with my young children but I also try to play a competitive game of tennis at least once a week.
