Teams provide the bank with internal and external financial reporting, forecasting, controls oversight and stress testing expertise. Specialist areas also manage HSBC’s worldwide tax affairs, group treasury needs, and events for investors and analysts.

Global Sustainability

The global team leads the bank’s work to support sustainable growth in a global economy. The team has an ambitious plan to prioritise financing and investment that supports the transition to a net zero global economy – and helps to build a thriving, resilient future for society and businesses.

People, Governance and Communications

The People, Governance and Communications (PG&C) team brings together three areas to form a strategic platform to deliver HSBC’s ambition and priorities and accelerate the momentum needed to drive a high-performance culture.

• People is the power behind the colleague experience at HSBC and strives to create a culture where the best people want to work and where talented colleagues thrive
• Governance provides company secretarial and governance services to boards, legal entities and all areas of the bank to ensure that HSBC is well managed, with effective oversight and simplified decision-making
• Communications brings the ambition of the bank’s strategy: focusing on our customers, driving strong and sustainable growth, and being simple and agile, to life

Global Risk and Compliance

Global Risk and Compliance takes a comprehensive view of risk for the Group, playing a key role in helping the bank to deliver its strategy.

• Risk oversees a comprehensive risk management framework that is applied throughout the Group
• Compliance exists to protect our customers, the organisation and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate

Global Legal

Global Legal plays an important role in protecting HSBC’s reputation, helping to safeguard the organisation by providing robust and comprehensive advice on legal issues and risks.

Global Internal Audit

Global Internal Audit helps the board and Group Operating Committee to protect the assets, reputation and long-term financial sustainability of HSBC.

Global Strategy

The Global Strategy team works with senior management to set the strategic direction of the bank at a Group, business and regional level.

Group Brand

As global custodians of the HSBC brand, the team is dedicated to building and protecting it to ensure long-term growth, consistency, and impact across the group.

Our responsibilities include leading brand strategy, governance, education, and guidelines – with a strong focus on accessibility. We drive brand growth through Global Brand Partnerships, campaigns, and presence in airports. We ensure the delivery of world-class events and manage the group’s archives, preserving and curating HSBC history.
