Skills and experience: Alison has substantial listed company leadership and commercial experience, with extensive knowledge of the UK and international business environment. She brings experience in financial services, investor engagement, remuneration and corporate governance, alongside significant non-executive board experience.

Career: Alison began her career at British Airways before joining Bupa Group in 1993, where she held senior international leadership roles over 21 years. Her international roles included responsibility for businesses across Europe, North America and developing markets, as well as involvement with Bupa’s joint ventures in Saudi Arabia and India.

From 2014 to 2018, she was Chief Executive Officer of Countrywide plc, the listed residential and commercial property services group. She subsequently held non-executive and chair roles at organisations including Tesco plc, Dechra Pharmaceuticals, Legal & General Financial Advice and Hargreaves Lansdown. Her earlier board appointments included Cable & Wireless Communications plc, Bupa Arabia, Max Bupa Health Insurance and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

She was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 2011 for her services to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Alison was a founding member of the steering group of the Hampton-Alexander Review, which focused on improving women’s representation in leadership in FTSE companies.
