Letter from the editor

I would like to welcome you to our engineering blog! In this new space we’re going to open up about some of the great work that goes on behind the scenes in HSBC Technology: how we work to serve our customers, how we think about software delivery at a global scale, how we succeed.

We'll be opening with some interesting pieces in the coming weeks, including posts on:

• How we work effectively with highly distributed global systems
• Lessons from running 24/7 infrastructure and services
• Innovative work with AI solutions enabling business capability
• Other open-source projects we're especially proud of, and our underlying philosophy
• How we organise engineering to maximise effectiveness
• Deep dives into performance engineering challenges

I'm excited that we now have a channel for the community of engineers. This blog is a place to tell our stories. I hope you find them interesting. Please send feedback and suggestions for stories you'd like to see to engineering@hsbc.com.
