UK Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships play an important role in our business, and provide people who may not have gone to university with another route in to a challenging and rewarding career with HSBC.

We aim to be a true reflection of the customers we serve and communities we operate in, which is why encouraging talent from all backgrounds to join our business is so important to us. We’ve found that Apprenticeship opportunities are one of the very best ways to equip people with the skills they need to succeed.

Our UK Apprenticeship programmes allow you to combine work and study, with the opportunity to gain a formal qualification ranging from Foundation through to Degree level.

These opportunities all provide an alternative to the classical A-level and university pathways; with a range of different learning methods designed to fit your way of learning such as workplace teaching, classroom-based learning, online courses, on the job training and independent study.

We are looking for people with drive and aspiration, those who think, see, and do things differently and who can represent and relate to our diverse global customer base. We employ, develop and promote employees based on merit and provide a supportive and inclusive working environment.

We offer two types of apprenticeships in the UK: Foundation Apprenticeships and Degree Apprenticeships.

Please note these specific Apprenticeship programmes are currently only available in the UK.

Foundation Apprenticeships

Our Foundation Apprenticeships provide you with a permanent or a fixed term contract entry-level role, giving the opportunity to gain working experience whilst studying towards professional qualifications. You'll receive a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as support and encouragement to develop and progress your career within HSBC.

To be considered for a Foundation Apprenticeship, you will need to:

  • Be reliable and committed
  • Be passionate and enthusiastic
  • Have strong communication skills

For: Entry-level job seekers; whether you have just finished school/college or someone looking to change or re-start their career
Duration: 18 to up to 24 months
Areas: Multiple business areas across HSBC. The full list of available positions can viewed at the start of your application.
Location: UK
Applications open: 28 June 2021

Degree Apprenticeships

Our Degree Apprenticeships are new to HSBC, and offer an alternative to the full-time university route. You will join on a permanent contract consisting of a four-year structured programme which includes a series of different rotations across multiple areas of your business line, all whilst working towards an externally recognised Degree qualification via one of our University partners.

Throughout your programme you will receive a wealth of support and guidance to ensure you have the platform to accelerate your career within the HSBC Group. This includes a dedicated mentor, ongoing learning and development opportunities via a mixture of one-to-one tuition in both the classroom and workplace, on-demand resources, dedicated study days and even the possibility of independent study with residential stays at the university delivering your qualification.

All apprentices receive a highly competitive salary and benefits, and will be supported at the end of the four-year programme to secure a permanent destination role within HSBC.

To be considered for a Degree Apprenticeship you will:

  • Be driven and committed to self-development, with a desire to pursue a career with HSBC
