
Hong Kong Banking Talent Programme
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), with the support of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB), will launch the 2021 Banking Talent Programme in Hong Kong soon.
The six-month programme will commence from September 2021 and will provide recent Hong Kong university graduates, from all study disciplines, with a work placement at HSBC.

As a participating organisation, HSBC is offering placements in the following areas of the bank:
Wealth and Personal Banking: Chief Operating Officer Office, Wealth Development, and the Contact Centre
Digital Business Services: Chief Operating Officer Office, Operations, and Procurement

What to expect
Over the course of the six-month programme, you will gain experience and insight in the business area for which you are recruited, and you can expect a combination of varied on-the-job practical experience, project-based work and functional exposure. You will be encouraged to learn, ask questions, take on some responsibilities and develop your professional network. Throughout your time at HSBC, you will be supported by experienced managers, colleagues and a wide network of diverse peers.
Who can apply?
To be considered for this programme, you will:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or above, of any study discipline, awarded by a Hong Kong or an overseas university / tertiary institution in 2021
- Be a Hong Kong national who is lawfully employable in Hong Kong
- Be fluent in written and spoken English and Cantonese
- Possess strong communication skills and are able to collaborate with others effectively
- Have solid PC skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Additional PC skills in Excel (Macro), Access and Project would be advantageous
Learning, development and support
There will be a range of training activities centrally organised by the HKMA, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, the HKIB, the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute or the Treasury Markets Association, alongside other relevant bodies and reputable market practitioners.
Upon successful completion of this programme, you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent roles at HSBC.
