HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series
The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series has continued to break new ground for the sport as it added five new cities to the global roster. Cape Town, Sydney, Vancouver, Singapore and Paris have joined Hong Kong, Dubai, London, Wellington and Las Vegas. With increased attendance and broadcast figures, more people than ever have experienced the stars of rugby sevens.
With big and small nations competing all over the world, Rugby Sevens reflects the global nature of HSBC's business. We are proud to be a part of the game’s continued growth into 2017 and to allow thousands of customers, employees and fans to get involved in the sport.
HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series
The women’s game continues to grow at a rapid rate. In 2015 we became the first-ever title sponsor of the increasingly popular Women’s World Rugby Sevens Series. With more than 1.5 million women regularly playing rugby, there is a huge growth opportunity for the women’s game.
Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens
The iconic Hong Kong Sevens holds a special place in our global sponsorship portfolio, located as it is in Hong Kong, one of our two home markets.
The event remains our flagship rugby sponsorship in Asia and an important platform for engaging customers within a key market for our business.
HSBC Grassroots Rugby
As a long-term sponsor of rugby all over the world, we are committed to developing the game at all levels. Central to our role as title sponsor of the World Rugby Sevens Series has been a programme designed to grow the game on and off the field all over the world. We continue to host Sevens-specific training programmes including hosting the world’s biggest schools Sevens tournament at Rosslyn Park, London, UK. By working with well-known rugby players we are able to raise awareness of the short-form version of the game and build momentum around the sport.
Through our international grassroots programme, HSBC is helping children all over the world experience the game for the first time. In 2016 the HSBC Rugby Festival programme visited Brazil, Hong Kong, New York, Canada and Australia and continues to expand. We are also proud to support HSBC Penguins Rugby Club as it continues to play an essential role in aiding the development of rugby in fast-growing nations across the globe, including India and Malaysia.
Hong Kong Rugby Teams
HSBC is the official sponsor of the Hong Kong Men’s and Women’s Rugby Teams in both Sevens and Fifteens, which attract talented players from age-grade to a senior level.
We are proud to be the Official Banking Partner of the Wallabies, Australia's national rugby union team. We recently decided to renew our partnership until 2019 and are excited to continue to work with the team. The partnership serves as a platform for us to give our customers across the globe exposure to the very top level of rugby. It has also been an important component of our grass roots activity, with Wallabies stars joining us to help inspire a new generation of young fans and players.
