World Golf Championships – HSBC Champions
The HSBC World Golf Champions in Shanghai is our flagship event in the men’s game. Shanghai is a special place for the bank. We opened for business there in 1865 – and more than 150 years later it is still central to HSBC.
Created in November 2005, HSBC Champions attracts the world's best players. In 2009 the event was granted World Golf Championship status – the first tournament outside the US to achieve this.
When we first brought HSBC Champions to China in 2005, our ambition was to create a world-class international golf tournament in an emerging market. For more than a decade, our flagship tournament has been a driving force behind the development of golf in Asia.
HSBC Women’s Champions
Established in 2008, the HSBC Women’s Champions showcases the best in women’s golf and is an annual highlight in the calendar for players and fans alike. In 2016 the tournament attracted 18 of the top 20 players in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship has become one of the biggest events on the PGA European Tour and earned a reputation as the jewel in the crown of Middle Eastern golf.
HSBC began its sponsorship in 2011 and now, working with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, we are looking to drive the championship – and golf in the Middle East – to the next level.
We are proud to be a patron of The Open, the oldest golf tournament in the world and one of golf’s four Major championships.
Our partnership with the R&A, golf's governing body, is now in its seventh year. This gives us access to a network of golf experts and enthusiasts that spans the world, including in many of HSBC's key markets. As The Open proves year after year, links golf guarantees a spectacle that captures the imagination of sports fans the world over.
HSBC Golf Business Forum
Established in 2004, the HSBC Golf Business Forum is widely regarded as the most important business-to-business golf event in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for golf industry professionals.
HSBC Golf Grassroots
Developing golf's grass roots is at the very heart of our ambition to open up the game. We’ve invested in golf's future for over a decade but 2016 saw us take another significant step forward.
As a patron of the world’s oldest major, The Open Championship, we were proud to launch HSBC Hour in 2015, offering an hour of free golf to children and their families at almost 300 clubs all over the UK. This was such a success that in 2016 we extended the offer to clubs in China, Singapore, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
In China, HSBC supports the CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program – a sustainable long-term framework upon which the future of Chinese golf is being built. Having recently renewed this association, we are committed to continuing to grow the game in the region.
In Singapore, our initiatives such as the HSBC Youth Golfers Programme and the HSBC Youth Golfers Excellence Programme have helped drive the number of young golfers in the past five years. In Hong Kong, the HSBC Hong Kong Junior Golf Programme offers a structured pathway for children to try the sport for the first time, develop their skills and, for those talented enough, the chance to represent Hong Kong on the international stage.
HSBC Premier Golf Days
The HSBC Premier Golf Network is an online ‘golf club’ where HSBC Premier customers in the UK receive the benefits of golf club membership without affiliation to just one club. HSBC Premier customers can benefit from cheaper green fees, take advantage of a network of PGA professionals offering discounted lessons and learn through monthly video tutorials and question and answer sessions.
