HSBC has a long history. Being here the year we reached our 150th anniversary opened my eyes to the successes and challenges that the bank has faced over the years. Our values haven’t changed: we are just as focused on connecting customers to opportunities and helping them realise their ambitions now as we were when we started.
HSBC’s founding board was diverse right from the start with men of Scottish, German, Indian, American, English and Norwegian descent. Today, HSBC is a champion for female leaders throughout the bank.
HSBC has absorbed the lessons of its past while staying attuned to the needs of its customers. The bank does a lot for the community and for its own people. When I was on the programme there was a global appeal to find a donor for an employee who had been diagnosed with leukemia. I knew then that this was the bank for me.
