For me at HSBC, I’ve grown with the ranks, so I have done various roles and various positions, and today, if I’ve got to a regional head position, it is because I have moved across different phases of the bank.
The single most thing that sets us apart is our culture. At HSBC, we lay a lot of emphasis on our values. We empower our employees to do the right thing and work with courageous integrity. And I think it is this open and transparent culture which actually integrates itself into the employees as well as the customers. And I think that’s why we are dependable.
I think the other thing that sets us apart is of course our global presence and our belief in inclusion. We have people from different walks of life. We have people from different cultures. We have people with different ideas. HSBC provides the forum to get all of that together so that we can actually work in a more innovative and creative manner. And I think that’s what adds value to the organisation, as well as the people. I think what is important is the foundation of the organisation. I’ve worked here for nine years – more than anywhere else – and I think it’s done me well. It’s something that I’ve really loved as a journey, and I’m very happy about it.
