My journey with HSBC started with the Student Ambassador Programme which provided me with ample opportunities to understand the bank and its culture

During the Student Ambassador Programme, I was able to gain knowledge of the banking industry and broaden my perspectives. Most importantly, the one year spent allowed me to consider the alignment of my values and to consider joining as a graduate. Being open and inquisitive truly helped to make the experience an enriching and fulfilling one.

Following the Student Ambassador Programme, I completed the Retail Banking and Wealth Management internship. The people I met on my internship were always helpful and shared insights with me. After finishing the internship, I knew I wanted to join HSBC because I enjoyed the dynamics and culture of working at the bank, and the support from the people around me would enable me to succeed as a graduate. I also decided that the area of Commercial Banking was more suited to my career aspirations, and I was successful in securing a placement on the Commercial Banking global graduate programme.

As you work through each placement on the graduate programme, you get a sense of the bigger picture - not just of the Commercial Banking business but of the entire bank. It helps you learn more about HSBC’s global connectivity. We can offer solutions that other banks cannot because of our breadth and depth of knowledge. My team has helped a range of clients including a local entrepreneur developing his company's Asian footprint and regional companies taking their business into the international marketplace.
