HSBC sponsors British Cycling

HSBC has signed an eight-year deal to become lead sponsor for British Cycling, the sport’s national governing body.

The partnership aims to support UK cycling from grassroots programmes up, from amateurs wanting to keep fit to elite cyclists competing at an international level as part of the Great Britain Cycling Team.

António Simões, Chief Executive, HSBC Bank plc, said: “We are extremely proud to be working in partnership with British Cycling. Successes at the Olympics and Paralympics in both London and Rio have put cycling well and truly on the map.”

“We are looking to help build on that legacy to make a real difference from grassroots cycling all the way up to those representing Britain at the very highest level. Our ambition is for this to become a true partnership that benefits every family across Britain.”

The announcement was made at HSBC BikeFest 2016, a free cycling event held in Birmingham, UK. Working together, HSBC and British Cycling plan to deliver a programme of free community events across the UK that will encourage millions more people to get involved in cycling.

HSBC’s partnership with British Cycling will start on 1 January 2017.
