Irene Dorner was named President and CEO of HSBC USA effective November 2011, overseeing HSBC Bank USA, NA, and HSBC Finance Corporation. She also serves as Director, HSBC North America Holdings Inc, HSBC USA Inc and HSBC Bank USA, NA, and was appointed a Group Managing Director of HSBC Holdings plc with effect from 1 February 2013. Prior to her current role, Ms Dorner served as President and CEO of HSBC Bank USA, NA. Ms Dorner joined the organisation in 1982 as an in-house lawyer at Samuel Montagu and Co Limited, the merchant banking arm of Midland Bank, which was later acquired by the HSBC Group. She held positions as Chief Operating Officer of Treasury and Capital Markets, and General Manager of Marketing and Human Resources functions for HSBC Bank plc. Ms Dorner also had responsibility for HSBC Bank plc's branch network in the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and also held the position of General Manager, Premier and Wealth Management of HSBC Bank plc. She was appointed Deputy Chairman and CEO HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad in 2007, where she served until her appointment to the USA in January 2010. Ms Dorner was named the 2012 Most Powerful Woman in Banking by American Banker. In late 2012, she was named Chairman of British American Business. She also serves on the boards of the Financial Services Roundtable, The Clearing House, and the Partnership for New York City, and is a member of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy. Ms Dorner graduated from St Anne's College Oxford with MA in Jurisprudence.
