When I first joined HSBC, I worked as a Corporate Banking Relationship Manager in Istanbul before moving to our Asia Corporate Centre to help establish the branch. HSBC’s reputation really appealed to me, and after working for three years as a Relationship Manager, I was promoted to Regional Management in our Head Office.
My job requires strong interpersonal skills. In the Turkish market, we face strong competition from other banks so we are constantly challenged to improve. To ensure we maintain our position, I have tried to increase collaboration between the head office support teams and branches to explore business opportunities and deepen customer relationships. HSBC’s global footprint enables us to create cross-country opportunities where our local competition lacks the necessary expertise.
HSBC’s work environment is supportive of career development, and our values of being dependable, open and connected match mine. In a short period of time, I have taken responsibility for coordinating five corporate branches. Before HSBC, I have never thought of working abroad; now, I am applying to become an International Manager, which would broaden my outlook.
