In 2010, I began an internship with HSBC Paris in Equity and Capital Markets, and at the end of the programme, I was surprised that I had been recommended for a similar position in Hong Kong. I was delighted when I was later offered a job in London.
In a little more than a year I have worked in three of HSBC’s key global locations and learned that each workplace is influenced by its surrounding culture. But in every location, I learned a lot, met brilliant people, formed valuable friendships and had a great time.
The biggest challenge for me as a junior in such a fast-paced environment is finding a balance between my work and my personal life. I started my internship before I had finished my degree, and for a month, I worked during the day at HSBC and spent the evening studying the classes I missed before my exams. It was exhausting, but the team was very understanding and accommodating.
When I started my internship in Paris more than three years ago, I had no idea I would spend a year in Hong Kong and then get a full-time job in London. I am looking forward to working with and learning from motivated talented people from all around the world.
