I joined HSBC’s Management Development Programme because I thought I’d enjoy the dynamic pace of Retail Banking and Wealth Management. I undertook four placements during the programme, including Human Resources, PhoneBanking, Deposits and Liabilities Products, and Regional Channels, which were really important in setting my career up at HSBC.
In 2012, I was nominated to attend the Next Generation Development Programme in Argentina and had a chance to visit a Green project. I also got to visit Brunei and Shanghai for a Commercial Banking project, where we discussed strategies to increase the trade finance between the two countries. I found the experience really positive, and I gained a better understanding of different cultures. That helped me work as part of a diverse team with people from Israel, Latin America, the UK, the USA and Canada.
It also highlighted how important culture is at HSBC. The bank has organised and supported many community initiatives across the Group. I volunteered for one of our global initiatives called JA More Than Money and enjoyed teaching students about money. Helping the community and managing our business responsibly for long-term success gives me great satisfaction.
I am confident that I will have a bright future at HSBC with many opportunities, be they local or global.
