One of the biggest challenges for me is my health and managing it, and combining it with work. So the issue was what happens when I’m not well? But obviously I cannot get into my wheelchair and come into work, so HSBC has been very accommodating and set up all the infrastructure and systems I need to remotely work from home when it is not possible to come in.
It is very flexible in the sense that there are no fixed times to go back home. It will depend completely on the market floor and what’s happening. If there are things happening you will stay; if things have tapered off for the day then you can go home. But because of your Blackberry and your Bloomberg mobile phone you are constantly in touch with your colleagues and news flow 24/7. So the location, being in the office is not a requisite in the 21st century at HSBC.
