London, for me, is my home. I grew up here. I was born here. I went to school here and I find myself working here now.
It doesn't rain that often in London; of course, it is raining today, which doesn't really prove my point, but days here are sunny and bright sometimes.
One of the best things about my job is that I have been able to experience a number of people from a wide range of backgrounds. I have been able to travel quite a lot at HSBC as a truly worldwide organisation. And I really think I have taken the opportunity to develop myself in a way that, potentially, other bankers might not have been able to.
I work with a great team; they have really pushed me to develop as an individual and it is probably the reason why I am still at HSBC.
My job entails advising private equity clients on various mergers and acquisitions opportunities, dealing across a number of geographies and across a number of products.
I work here at 8 Canada Square. The building looks over the whole of London and, actually, from where I live at Primrose Hill, you can see it so it means that I never get to truly escape – that is good or bad. It is somewhere that I really enjoy and I really feel that it is my base.
My name is Andrew and I have been at HSBC for three years and I am working in the Financial Sponsors M&A team.
