What to expect

Supported by experienced managers, colleagues and a wide network of diverse peers, you'll be encouraged to take on responsibility and bring new ideas to the table. You will be valued as an individual and for the contribution you make.

Over the two- to three-month programme, you will gain valuable, real-world experience in the business stream to which you have been assigned. This could be Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Operations Support, Information Technology or other support functions in our head office.

You can expect practical training that will complement your academic studies, embedding our values while growing your career. During the Malaysia Internship Programme, you’ll be challenged to use your talents and academic knowledge to add value to the bank and improve your professional and personal skills.

The programme may stretch to six months depending on the requirements of your course; internships for information technology students, for instance, usually last six months. Generally, the intake period is from April to August and from November to February.

Learning, development and support

Our programme will equip you with the skills and experience required to start a successful career with HSBC, as well as the opportunity to develop your professional network with colleagues around the world.

Over the course of the programme, we typically offer:

  • A one-day induction programme provided by our learning centre
  • Practical training with your business stream
  • The possibility of assignment to short-term business projects to enhance your development
