What to expect

We’re looking for the future leaders of HSBC Securities Services – and this starts with our 10-week internship. You will need to be forward-thinking, driven and perceptive, open to different ideas and cultures and enjoy being part of a team.

HSBC Securities Services provides asset and portfolio services to corporate, institutional and government investors and issuers worldwide.

After a week of induction, you’ll complete a nine-week placement that will build your expertise in one of the following areas: custody services, investment operations, fund administration, middle office services, corporate trust or loan agency. You’ll gain experience of projects and client exposure and have the chance to learn more about products and services across HSBC Securities Services.

You’ll also be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work. We offer a market-competitive pay and benefits package according to your location. As well as comprehensive training, you will be paid throughout your internship.

Learning and development

Your induction programme will help you to understand HSBC's strategy, culture and values, and how each function operates and what its business impact is. Structured training will help you to become familiar with relevant products, systems and customers, and increase your knowledge of the HSBC Securities Services business, our regulatory environment and changes in the financial markets.

You’ll be set measurable objectives and receive feedback throughout the 10 weeks. There will be many people to offer you support. Your manager will be able to give you guidance on your career options. You’ll be assigned a mentor who will help you to get the most out of the experience, and a buddy to share ideas with and call on for advice. There will be regular business and social events to attend so you can build a network of global contacts, which will prove invaluable to you in the future.

Career paths

You could secure a place on the HSBC Securities Services Global Graduate Programme on completion of your studies, the next stage on the journey to a successful career in investment banking.
