What to expect
We’re looking for the future leaders of Global Private Banking. You will need to be forward-thinking, driven and perceptive, open to different ideas and cultures and enjoy being part of a team. Our two-year rotational programme of four placements, each lasting six months, will give you wide exposure to our private banking business.
You’ll join a team providing wealth management advice and tailored investment solutions to help our high-net-worth clients and their families grow, manage and preserve their wealth.
You’ll learn how to build relationships with our clients, understand their circumstances and create a wealth-management strategy that meets their financial goals. You’ll develop the expertise to advise clients on the most appropriate products and how best to invest private client funds. You’ll gain the knowledge to advise business owners on their finances, taking into account issues such as succession planning and charitable activities. We work in close partnership with Commercial Banking and our other global businesses
There will be plenty of people around to support you. You’ll be assigned a mentor and buddy, who will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and provide a sounding-board for your ideas. There will be many opportunities to develop your network of contacts, within Global Private Banking and beyond.
As well as your immediate team, we have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), also known as networks. They are similar to the clubs and societies that you may have had access to at school, college or university. ERGs are voluntary employee-led groups. Our seven core global diversity-themed networks are: Ability, Balance, Embrace, Faith, Generations, Nurture and Pride. We also have common interest groups that connect employees on a variety of different topics. They are open to all employees.
You’ll also be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work.

Learning and development

This starts with our global induction which will provide you with an overview of HSBC, the opportunity to connect with peers and business leaders from across the world, and will prepare you for the programme.
You will attend the Global Private Banking Technical Training with colleagues from around the world. The six-week training course will give you an insight into the different products we offer, an opportunity to practice some of the key behavioural skills needed, networking with our senior management team in a social setting and help to work towards professional qualifications.
During your rotational programme you’ll benefit from training that includes regular access to coaching and advice, as well as frequent and constructive feedback on your performance. Coaching and experience will develop your technical and behavioural skills, enabling you to take advantage of the extensive global opportunities we offer. We will provide everything you need to move up, although you will drive your own development.
The Global Private Banking Global Graduate Programme is the beginning of an exciting journey in international banking. On completion of the programme, you’ll continue learning about interacting with clients as a relationship manager or improving your understanding of the investment world as a product specialist.
