What to expect
We’re looking for the future leaders of Global Asset Management. You will need to be forward-thinking, driven and perceptive, open to different ideas and cultures and enjoy being part of a team.
Your Global Asset Management Graduate Programme will provide you the in-depth experience, knowledge and skills to understand how HSBC connects individual retail customers, major multinational corporate clients, sovereign wealth funds and financial institution clients with investment opportunities around the world.
Through four structured rotations, each lasting six months, and training, you’ll develop a well-rounded understanding and experience of our investment philosophy and governance, our approach to clients, and the way we design and deliver products, as well as taking a rotation in one of our control functions.
In investments you’ll be developing an understanding of the investment philosophy and process for different asset classes, as well as gaining an introduction to equity/fixed income analysis and to the investment research and dealing functions.
In business development and sales, you’ll be supporting key business development projects and understanding the sales processes to support distribution to different client groups and channels. In client strategy, you’ll develop an understanding of the asset management client segments and customer propositions, and support client strategy and propositions projects.
In product, you’ll identify market trends, develop an understanding of the product lifecycle and product development processes, and support distribution to different client groups and channels. A rotation in one of our control functions will reflect the importance we place on functional processes and standards for risk management and governance.
You’ll be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work. As well as your immediate team, we have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), also known as networks. They are similar to the clubs and societies that you may have had access to at school, college or university. ERGs are voluntary employee-led groups. Our seven core global diversity-themed networks are: Ability, Balance, Embrace, Faith, Generations, Nurture and Pride. We also have common interest groups that connect employees on a variety of different topics. They are open to all employees.
We offer a market-competitive pay and benefits package according to your role and location.
Learning and development
We offer fantastic opportunities for you to grow your career. We take your development seriously and are committed to supporting you in driving your career forward. This starts with our global induction which will provide you with an overview of HSBC, the opportunity to connect with peers and business leaders from across the world, and will prepare you for the programme.
As you move through your rotations you can expect comprehensive development and support that will ensure you are skilled and experienced at every stage of your career. You’ll learn by doing, gaining valuable on-the-job training, but you’ll also be able to use the knowledge of your manager and other experts on your team and complete relevant professional qualifications, such as the Investment Management Certificate and the Chartered Financial Analyst. You’ll be assigned a mentor and a buddy, who will offer advice and support. Our sustainability initiatives can provide a different perspective, develop personal skills and set you on a path to becoming a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which we work.
