Technology has improved the way we think, live and work. It allows us to work remotely, making us a more flexible bank

I had always wanted a career in IT, and the chance to work at a large international company such as HSBC is obviously appealing. It took me a while to get used to some of the processes in the early stages of the Information Security Risk Programme, but with the support and guidance of my team, I was able to improve rapidly. Since then, continued training such as cross-domain training has improved my skills and helped me to deliver assignments on time.

Information security is a fascinating area to work in. Today's technology has improved the way we think, live and work. It allows us to work remotely, making us a more flexible bank, and we can communicate with colleagues across the globe in an instant. HSBC has used technology to provide the best services to our customers, and I believe that the bank offers a superb online experience.

But as the number of people using online banking increases, so do the threats to security. I'm working on projects to counter those threats. As a Risk Analyst, I provide threat and incident management support for HSBC across the Middle East. It has given me the chance to work on global initiatives and interact with people from different cultures all over the world.

It's always nice when your efforts are recognised. I won an award for my support in increasing convergence of data leakage protection in the Middle East. Such recognition makes you want to do your best. Collectively, my team has also been nominated for the 2012 annual HSBC awards. As technology advances, so will security, which means I'll have much more to learn.

HSBC is a great place to work. We have a flexible work environment and also an in-house cultural committee, which promotes a series of fun events and community development projects.
