Being successful at HSBC is about being the person that people want on their team and the type of leader that people want to follow

I joined HSBC after more than 20 years in wealth management and private banking. I have held senior credit positions with a major bank and senior sales management and business development roles. My role at HSBC in Private Bank Americas is by far the most complex and demanding, yet fulfilling, of my career so far. I am responsible for credit origination, loan structuring, credit products, portfolio management and risk management and sit on the Private Bank Executive Committee and Private Bank Senior Management Committee.

My job involves regular travel to Switzerland, London, Brazil and Mexico, as well as many cities throughout the US. Our clients come from all over the globe, from the technology industry, to financial industry leaders, entertainers and entrepreneurs. My team members are highly professional and motivated and are able to perform at a very high level with minimal supervision. Credit advisors need exceptional deal structuring and analytic skills.

My advice to anyone looking for a career in private banking is to get the most education possible. Be open to new experiences, embrace diversity and new challenges. Even the most difficult moments can lead to great opportunities because someone is always watching and observing how you perform in all circumstances. Being successful at HSBC is about being the person that people want on their team and the type of leader that people want to follow.
