I joined HSBC more than 15 years ago after working for another local bank. I have a degree in business administration and a postgraduate degree in corporate finance. Initially I worked in Commercial Banking, in roles including relationship management and team leadership, before taking a secondment in Global Risk and relocating to Hong Kong.
I spent more than three years there working in the Risk team for Asia-Pacific, with regional responsibility for Commercial Banking wholesale credit risk for China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. I returned to my home country of Argentina and developed my knowledge of risk and people management skills in different areas of the bank, including retail banking and insurance.
Today I have two main responsibilities. I manage credit risk for our Global Banking and Markets business in Argentina, reporting to the local Chief Risk Officer, and also head up a team of relationship managers to ensure that we minimise bad debt provisions and loan impairment charges. It is a high-pressure environment, but this has enabled me to prioritise tasks more effectively and broaden my experience of different areas of risk.
Outside work I have a young son and enjoy football. I am a big fan of San Lorenzo, which recently won the Copa Libertadores, Latin America’s biggest club football competition.
HSBC is particularly focused on the professional development of its staff. I have taken part in a number of training programmes, including most recently a Senior Leadership Programme held at a local university. My time in Asia allowed me to interact with a different culture and working environment and learn about myself both professionally and personally. It also enabled me to build a strong network, which is invaluable in my day-to-day duties, and to make many good friends worldwide.
