Water
1.1 billion people - 18 per cent of the world's population - lack access to safe drinking water. As the world's population grows, water shortages will impact more people and continue to constrain socioeconomic growth in some countries.
Through the United Nations Millennium Development goals, participating countries aim to reduce this number by half. Better water infrastructure is needed and requires funding. Private sector financing presents one solution to modernising water infrastructure.
We are working with the HSBC Climate Partnership organisations to identify futures trends and prepare the business for the risks and opportunities that will come from the water industry – as well as other sectors and regions of the world.
