Sustainability Report 2008

We appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP to provide independent assurance on selected information in our Sustainability Report 2008 covering carbon emissions and related offsets, and our application of the Equator Principles. Their assurance is performed in accordance with the internationally recognised professional assurance standard ISAE3000, against a clear and public set of criteria which can be found below.

The Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP assurance report is on page 27 of the HSBC Sustainability Report 2008.

Sustainability Report 2007

We have engaged Det Norske Veritas (DNV) to provide independent third-party assurance of the contents of HSBC’s Sustainability Report 2007. Their full-length assurance statement is found on p. 34 of the HSBC Sustainability Report 2007.

HSBC's carbon neutrality and its implementation of the Equator Principles are two separate areas in our Sustainability Strategy. Their verification requires differing methodology, which is why DNV has provided a separate assurance statement for each. These statements are found below.

Corporate Responsibility Report 2006

HSBC contracted Det Norske Veritas Certification BV (DNV) to provide assurance for our 2006 CR Report including specific statements for:

  • Equator Principles
  • Carbon Neutrality

Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2005

HSBC contracted URS Verification Ltd and Det Norske Veritas Certification BV (DNV) to provide assurance for our 2005 CSR Report.
