Malancha, Bangladesh

Malancha is the mother of two boys. When her husband died, she began providing domestic help for a family in Chittagong earning US$ 15 per month, barely enough to sustain the household.
From her employer's advice, Malancha visited the SOS Children's Villages, a partner of Future First. Through its family support programme, she was able to receive immediate day care and educational support for her children. This allowed Malancha to attend tailoring training at the SOS's Social Centre. After completing her training, Malancha bought a sewing machine and opened a small boutique in her home. Her sons will continue to receive support and education while Malancha builds up her income and is able to support them herself.
