Julian, U.S.

Julian, 18 years-old, has never lived with his parents. While homeless, he found refuge in alley ways, friends' homes or just riding the subway through the night. Julian admits to drinking alcohol and using drugs as a way to get by and escape from the pain and fear of his situation.
With funding from HSBC, through the Future First programme, La Casa Norte has found a stable environment for Julian to live and the opportunity to work with professional social workers to address the difficulties in his life. Since coming to La Casa Norte, Julian saved US$1500 in a bank account for his future housing needs. He also completed a 6-month vocational training programme in Horticulture and found a job working at a warehouse.
