Climate Change Research, Panama

Christian Zeigler
As part of the HSBC Climate Partnership, STRI scientists are investigating how forests respond to climate change. Part of their research will be focused in the Panama Canal Watershed to understand how land-use decisions impact the storage and release of water in the environment.
This, in fact is the largest ever experiment on quality and quantity of water flow in the Panama Canal. Scientists have been researching in this area since 1923, providing valuable data on tropical biology. STRI is coordinating research activities in other tropical zones around the world, which will contribute to its findings.
