HSBC Climate Partnership 2011: Notes from a five year journey

front page of report

This book is a selection of 46 stories celebrating the achievements of The HSBC Climate Partnership, which concluded at the end of 2011.

The Partnership was our US$100 million, five-year environmental programme with The Climate Group, Earthwatch Institute, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and the WWF. The programme set out to tackle the urgent threat of climate change by inspiring action by individuals, businesses and governments worldwide.

Today 32 million more people have access to clean water than before the project started; three million hectares of forest land have been protected; and low carbon technology is helping ten of the world's biggest cities to cut carbon emissions more quickly. The Partnership delivered the world's largest ever forest research project with the help of over 2200 HSBC "Climate Champions" and 63,000 days of volunteering from HSBC employees.
