HSBC donates £100,000 to London relief fund

HSBC in the UK has donated £100,000 (US$180,000) to the London Bombings Relief Charitable Fund, following the attacks in the UK capital on Thursday 7 July.
More than 50 people are known to have died in the tube and bus bombings, which injured 700 and brought the London transport system to a standstill. On Thursday 14 July, a week after the attacks, HSBC staff joined thousands in the UK and across the world in observing a two minutes’ silence to remember the victims of the bombings.
The London Bombings Relief Fund was set up by the British Red Cross and London’s Mayor, Ken Livingstone. It will be used to assist victims of the attacks and their families and has already received more than £2 million (US$3.6 million) in pledges.
