HSBC has opened its first corporate banking and consumer finance operations in Slovakia.
Stephen Green, Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings plc, officially opened the branch in Bratislava at a ceremony in the city’s Primatial Palace.
The branch serves as a sales office and offers a range of commercial banking and treasury products. It opened for business in June 2005, and since then has focused on large multi-national organisations doing business in Slovakia and on large domestic corporate and bank clients. Services include corporate lending and deposit facilities, treasury and capital markets and trade services. A separate consumer finance operation also opened in 2005 under HSBC’s Beneficial Finance brand.
The opening is part of HSBC’s expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe. “We see Slovakia as part of a region with good growth potential for the future,” said Stephen Green. “HSBC’s decision to open here has been driven by the needs and desires of our clients who are investing in the country’s strongly growing economy.”
