HSBC celebrates 140 years in China

Peter Wong (far left) and Vincent Cheng present a donation on behalf of the Hongkong Bank Foundation to Madam Chen Tiedi, President of the Shanghai Charity Foundation. HSBC reconfirmed its commitment to China at a gala reception to celebrate the 140-year anniversary of its presence in the country.

Newly appointed Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Vincent Cheng, joined customers, colleagues and dignitaries including Shanghai's Vice Mayor at the reception. He said: 'China is at the very heart of our strategy for the future.'

Together with Peter Wong, Group General Manager and the bank’s HSBC Asia-Pacific's Executive Director for Hong Kong and Mainland China, Cheng presented a donation on behalf of the Hongkong Bank Foundation to the Shanghai Charity Foundation.

HSBC has enjoyed an uninterrupted presence in China since it was established in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 1865.
