New Zealand’s Michael Campbell won the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth on 18 September.
Campbell triumphed with a 2&1 victory over Ireland’s Paul McGinley in the final round.
Coming just three months after his win at the US Open, Campbell’s latest success sees him join an elite list of former winners, including Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
As well as collecting one of the golf’s most prestigious trophies, Campbell also picked up a winner’s cheque of £1 million - the richest prize in golf.
En route to his final challenge against McGinley, Campbell beat Australians Geoff Ogilvy and Steve Elkington, and South African Retief Goosen in the semi-finals.
Following the gruelling final round contest that was decided on the 35th hole, Campbell said:
“Fortunately enough I managed to stumble over the finishing line.
“Right now I've got a good rhythm going, or a great formula, and so I keep on doing the same old things.”
