Douglas Flint

Douglas Flint

Douglas Flint is Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc. He joined HSBC as an executive Director in 1995. A member of the Large Business Tax Forum, and Co Chairman of the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group III in 2008. Chaired the Financial Reporting Council's review of the Turnbull Guidance on Internal Control in 2004. Served on the Accounting Standards Board and the Standards Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board from 2001 to 2004. A former partner in KPMG. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the Association of Corporate Treasurers and he is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

 

Stuart Gulliver

Stuart Gulliver
Stuart Gulliver is Group Chief Executive of HSBC Holdings plc, and has been an executive Director of HSBC Holdings plc since May 2008. Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. Mr Gulliver is a career banker with over 30 years' international experience with HSBC. He has held a number of key roles in the Group's operations worldwide, including in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and the United Arab Emirates.

 

Stephen King

Stephen King
Stephen King is HSBC's Group Chief Economist and the Bank's global head of economics and asset allocation research. He is directly responsible for HSBC's global economic coverage and coordinates the research of HSBC economists all over the world. Since 2001, Stephen has been writing a weekly column for The Independent, one of the UK's leading newspapers. In 2007, he became a member of the European Central Bank Shadow Council, and most recently became a member of the Financial Times Economists' Forum.

    Karen Ward

    Senior Global Economist

    Karen joined HSBC in 2006 as UK economist. In 2010 she was appointed Senior Global Economist with responsibility for monitoring challenges facing the global economy and their implications for financial markets. Before joining HSBC in 2006 Karen worked at the Bank of England where she provided supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. She has an MSc Economics from University College London

  • Madhur Jha

    Madhur Jha

    Global Economist

    Madhur is a global economist at HSBC. She joined HSBC London in 2007 as an ABS generalist to cover the EMEA markets. She gained experience in emerging markets economics research as a fixed income/FX strategist at a leading research consultancy in London and at the largest private sector bank in India, where she also worked in FX derivative sales. Madhur completed her Masters in Economics at Delhi School of Economics, India, in 2001.

  • Janet Henry

    Janet Henry

    Chief European Economist

    Janet Henry was appointed as HSBC's Chief European Economist in April 2007. She joined HSBC in 1996 in Hong Kong where she worked as an Asian Economist in the run-up to, and aftermath of, the Asian crisis before moving back to London in 1999 where she was a Global Economist for eight years. Janet's career began at the Economist Intelligence Unit where she worked as an Asian economist for over four years in London and Hong Kong after graduating with an Economics degree from University College London.

  • Simon Wells

    Simon Wells

    Chief UK Economist

    Before joining HSBC as Chief UK economist in December 2011, Simon worked as an economist and senior manager at the Bank of England. Over a twelve-year period, he held a number of roles in the Monetary Policy, Financial Stability and Markets areas of the Bank. For several years he was responsible for briefing the Monetary Policy Committee on financial market developments, although immediately before joining HSBC he headed the team analysing the outlook for UK demand and output. Simon also worked for two years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, heading a team in the Macroeconomic Surveillance Department.

  • Astrid Schilo

    Astrid Schilo

    European Economist

    Astrid has a long pedigree following the Eurozone and German economy. Astrid has studied and worked in Germany, France and the UK, and holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining HSBC, Astrid worked for an economic consultancy.

  • Mathilde Lemoine

    Mathilde Lemoine

    French Economist

    Mathilde Lemoine joined HSBC in 2006 as French economist. After working as a macroeconomic researcher, Mathilde has served as economic adviser to the French Minister of Trade and Economy and then assisted the French prime minister from 2002 to 2006. She obtained a PhD in economics from the Paris Institut d'Etudes Politiques and a master's degree from the University of Paris Dauphine.

  • Kevin Logan

    Kevin Logan

    Chief US Economist

    Kevin Logan joined HSBC in 2010 as Chief US Economist. He began his career as a market economist with the capital markets division of Citicorp in the mid-1980s before moving to Swiss Bank Corporation as their chief US economist in New York. Prior to joining HSBC Kevin was senior US markets economist for Dresdner Kleinwort. He lectured at Drew University in New Jersey and worked as a researcher at the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. before embarking on a career in the financial markets. Kevin holds a PhD in Economics from Cornell University and is based in New York.

    Hongbin Qu

    Chief Economist, China and Co-Head Asian Economic Research

    Qu Hongbin is HSBC's Chief Economist, China. He has worked as an economist in the financial markets for 15 years, of which the past six have been with HSBC. Hongbin also worked as a senior manager at a leading Chinese bank and other Chinese financial institutions for eight years.

  • Frederic Neumann

    Frederic Neumann

    Co-Head Asian Economic Research

    Frederic Neumann, PhD, is Senior Economist with joint responsibility for the Asia region, based in Hong Kong. Before joining HSBC, Frederic taught graduate level courses at the Johns Hopkins University, the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Graduate School of Pacific Studies and International Relations at UC San Diego, on Asian sovereign risk analysis, international financial markets, international monetary policy, and Southeast Asian political culture. He also served as a consultant on Asian economic and political affairs to the World Bank, and various government agencies. He is also a former research associate of the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC. A former Fulbright scholar, Frederic Neumann holds a PhD in International Economics and Asian Studies.

    Agnes Arlandis

    Switzerland

    Agnes started her Emerging Markets career in 1992 in London where she worked for two investment banks: Citicorp (5 years) Salomon Smith Barney (5 years). In both banks she was an Emerging Markets sales person for hard and local currencies bonds and loans as well as derivatives and structured products. Her client base were funds, hedge funds, insurance companies and large private banks in Europe. She moved to Switzerland in 2003 and joined Deutsche Bank Private Bank where she created the Emerging Markets product and advisory desk. She Joined HSBC Private Bank Suisse in September 2007 and she is managing Emerging Markets Desk to cover Fixed Income, Equities and FX business in Emerging Markets.

    Marc Cevey
    Chief Executive Officer
    HSBC Global Asset Management (Canada) Limited

    Marc Cevey is Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Global Asset Management (Canada) Limited, subsidiaries of HSBC Bank Canada and HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HBC), one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations. He also serves on the board of several Wealth Management subsidiaries, including HSBC Global Asset Management Canada, HSBC Investment Funds, HSBC Trust Company Canada and HSBC Securities Canada.

    Prior to his appointment in 2003, he was Vice President, Private Investment Management at HSBC Global Asset Management. Based in Toronto, Cevey has extensive investment and wealth management experience in domestic and international markets. Throughout his career, he has held progressively senior positions in Montreal, Toronto, New York, Zurich, Frankfurt and
    London.

    He was a founding member of the Advisory Council to the Simon Fraser University Asset and Wealth Management MBA program and is a regular speaker on major TV networks and often quoted in the financial press.

    Cevey is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He has a diploma from the Languages and Business Academy in Geneva, Switzerland. He has completed the Business Management Program from the Institute of Canadian Bankers and the Columbia University Faculty International Finance and Investment Program, a Credit Suisse First Boston sponsored six-month Program.

 

  • Leif Eskesen

    Leif Eskesen

    Chief Economist for India & ASEAN

    Leif Eskesen joined HSBC in October 2010 as Chief Economist for India and ASEAN and is based in Singapore. Before joining HSBC, he worked for close to 10 years at the International Monetary Fund's headquarters in Washington, DC, where he was a Senior Economist and a country mission chief. During his time at the International Monetary Fund, Leif covered a number of Asian and European countries, including South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Austria, Denmark, and Croatia, and was engaged in regional work across Asian countries. In addition to macroeconomic and financial sector analysis, his responsibilities included assessing macroeconomic and structural policies and discussing policy priorities with country authorities. Prior to joining the International Monetary Fund, Leif worked for Danmarks Nationalbank, Denmark's central bank, where he was Head of Section and worked in the department responsible for the strategic management of the foreign exchange reserves. Before this, Leif worked for one of Denmark's large commercial banks and as a Research Scholar at his university. Leif has published a number of papers across a wide range of topics, including fiscal policy and labour market issues. He holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.

  • Paul Bloxham

    Paul Bloxham

    Chief Economist, Australia and New Zealand

    Paul joined HSBC in late 2010 as Chief Economist for Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, he spent almost 12 years working as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he held a range of different roles in the Economic Analysis Department. These included heading up the overseas economies and financial conditions sections, and working in the domestic forecasting and prices areas. Paul has published a number of papers, including on housing and household finances, as well as on asset prices and monetary policy. Paul holds a Masters degree in public financial policy from the London School of Economics.

    Pablo Goldberg

    Global Head of Emerging Markets Research

    Pablo A. Goldberg is a Managing Director and Global Head of Emerging Markets Research at HSBC, where he joined in 2008. Pablo is responsible for working across asset classes to build opportunities for HSBC's emerging markets franchise. He is in charge of developing, drawing together and articulating the best research strategy ideas across regions. Prior to HSBC, Mr. Goldberg held similar positions in other international investment banks for about 15 years. Mr. Goldberg has a Masters Degree in Economics from the London School in Economics.

    Murat joined HSBC Turkey in early 2006 as Chief Economist for Turkey. Prior to joining HSBC, he worked for a year and a half as emerging markets economist & strategist at one of the leading financial houses in London and for seven years at a leading brokerage house in Istanbul. Murat holds a PhD in finance and has covered 12 EMEA countries in his career so far.

    Simon Williams

    Chief Economist for the Middle East and North Africa

    Simon Williams is HSBC's Chief Economist for the Gulf. Based in Dubai, he provides macroeconomic analysis and forecasts for equity, foreign exchange, and fixed income clients investing in the region. Simon has been working in and on the Middle East for over a decade. He joined HSBC in 2006 after a lengthy career with the Economist and Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in London. Simon has a degree in economics from the LSE, and a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of London.

    Andre Loes

    André Loes joined HSBC in August 2008 as chief economist for Brazil. Previously, he was a partner at an asset management concern and chief economist, head of equity research and head of equity at a major Spanish bank based in Brazil. Earlier, he served as aide to Brazil's foreign trade secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade, and he led the economic department of the Brazilian National Association of Investment Banks (ANBID). Andre holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in economics, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a doctorate in economics from Université de Paris, France.

    Sergio Martin joined HSBC in 2008 as the Chief Central America Economist. His responsibility is now concentrated on Mexico. Previously he was senior economist at the International Monetary Fund for more than 7 years. Earlier he was the Chief Economist for Mexico for two major banks in Mexico. His work experience also covers government positions in the Planning and Budget Ministry and the Council of Economic Advisors to the President of Mexico. Mr. Martin holds a PhD in Economics from the New School for Social Research.
