For the third year, the HSBC Climate Partnership has commissioned a survey of 12,000 people globally to understand consumers' attitudes to climate change in the run up to the UN Climate Change negotiations taking place in Copenhagen this December.

Although the economic crisis and an increased concern over terrorism has meant that climate change slipped one place to fourth on the list of issues that people are most concerned about, the Monitor reveals a clear call for action from governments on climate change with 65% of consumers wanting a new international deal to cut emissions at Copenhagen this December. Seven in ten (69 per cent) agreed that addressing climate change is at least as important, if not more important than supporting their national economy during the downturn.
