CHINA NOW

In 2008 the focus of the world will be on China and the Beijing Olympic Games. HSBC, a founding partner of the UK’s largest ever festival of Chinese culture, CHINA NOW, hopes to encourage people to see China for the modern, vibrant, and fast evolving country it has become today.

Our support of CHINA NOW in 2008 will enable us to share our knowledge and experience of Chinese culture and business to facilitate communication, understanding and prosperity. HSBC is one of the largest investors among foreign banks in mainland China. We have 40 city branches in China and more than 4,000 employees, 90% of whom were recruited locally.

The CHINA NOW festival will consist of some 800 events, performances and activities around the UK shining the spotlight on the very best of modern China in the 21st century including art, cuisine, science, design, business, technology, education and sport.

CHINA NOW was set up by UK business leaders, including Stephen Green, Group Chairman of HSBC, with the aim of furthering understanding between the two cultures and has received strong support from political leaders in both China and the UK.
